Locally, Dr. Nugent is a member of the Washoe County Medical Society (WCMS), Nevada State Medical Association (NSMA), an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine, serves on the Board of Directors at the Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Lung Association (ALA), and gives lectures in the community both to physicians and to patient support groups on topics of allergic disease. He also maintains active privileges at Renown Medical Center and Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Nugent received his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology Cum Laude from Pomona College in Claremont, California, and his MD from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Allergy/Immunology, at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Serving nine years on active duty in the United States Air Force, he was the Chief of the Allergy/Immunology Department at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Dr. Nugent has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has been recognized nationally for his research, as well as presentations on topics of allergic disease. Outside the office, he and his wife are the parents of three energetic young boys, and enjoy biking, hiking and camping. |
